Supporting First Responders Impacted by the LA Fires
At Integrative Healers Action Network (IHAN), our mission is to provide trauma-informed care to communities affected by disasters. From January through October 2025, we worked alongside the Los Angeles fire service community to deliver integrative health support for first responders in the wake of the devastating Easton and Palisades Fires.
This page summarizes that work — made possible through our strong partnerships with the Volunteer Fire Foundation and Acupuncturists Without Borders — to ensure firefighters and other first responders received the physical, emotional, and mental health support they needed during this challenging time.

IHAN’s Recent Efforts: Supporting Firefighters & First Responders
In collaboration with the Volunteer Fire Foundation (VFF) and Acupuncturists Without Borders (AWB), the Integrative Healers Action Network (IHAN) mobilized throughout 2025 to deliver critical integrative care to firefighters and first responders across Southern California. These responders faced extreme toxic smoke exposure, physical injuries, and trauma, and our services were essential in helping them recover. Our final weekend of clinics took place in October 2025.
What We Accomplished
✅ 4,445 integrative treatments were provided for 1,825 first responders between January 9 and October 2025.
✅ We established clinics in key locations, focusing on environmental health, detoxification, trauma recovery, and resilience building:
- Rose Bowl First Responder Base Camp – Delivered over 1,000 treatments, including naturopathic detox support, acupuncture, massage therapy, craniosacral therapy, physical therapy, chiropractic care, clinical homeopathy, and mindfulness techniques.
- Redondo Beach Pop-Up Clinic – Supported a Sonoma County Strike Team with critical detoxification and recovery care during our first weekend in Southern California.
- Downtown LA Pop-Up Clinic – Cared for a Cal Fire Strike Team, addressing the cumulative effects of long shifts, smoke exposure, and trauma.
- Pasadena Fire Department – Provided extensive detox treatments and integrative therapies to support physical recovery and trauma resilience.
- LAFD Station 69 (Pacific Palisades) – Offered care in the heart of the burn zone, where firefighters faced high exposure to toxic smoke and environmental hazards.
- Long Beach Fire Department – Deployed care for firefighters who responded to the Eaton and Palisades Fires, mitigating the effects of smoke inhalation, prolonged exertion, and high-stress conditions.

Why This Work Was Urgent
Firefighters risked everything to protect our communities, but faced immense physical and emotional challenges. Toxic smoke exposure has been linked to long-term respiratory damage, immune dysfunction, and chronic illness. The trauma and PTSD from life-threatening situations and relentless work conditions can leave lasting effects. Our clinics directly addressed these issues, providing both immediate relief and long-term healing support.
Our Volunteers Made It Possible
We are deeply grateful to the incredible volunteers whose dedication, compassion, and skill made this work possible. From licensed and certified practitioners to clinic coordinators — all of whom completed trauma-informed care training specific to climate disasters — their contributions were immeasurable. More than 200 new volunteers from Southern California joined us during this effort, an extraordinary outpouring of care and expertise.
Deep Gratitude to Our Donors & Partners
This work could not have happened without the generous support of our foundation partners, corporate and individuals donors.
